How to reduce catfishing before meeting someone
No feature can guarantee a person’s identity. A few deliberate checks can make impersonation harder and help both people decide whether they feel comfortable continuing.
Create your Nadi accountUse more than one signal
- State intentions and boundaries early.Clear answers make it easier to notice contradictions before trust is assumed.
- Look for a verified photo when available.Photo verification can add confidence, but it is one signal and not proof of identity.
- Request a short video conversation after matching.A live conversation can help both people assess whether the person and communication feel consistent.
- Keep consent active.A mutual match is permission to talk. It is not consent to meet, share private information, or take part in any activity.
- Choose a public first meeting.Tell someone you trust where you are going and keep your own transportation available.
How Nadi approaches the problem
Nadi is an 18+ community where members can describe the connection they want, their boundaries and their relationship style before a mutual conversation begins. Members may choose photo verification, and matched members can request an in-app video conversation before meeting.
These tools are designed to help people assess one another. They do not guarantee identity, intentions, safety, health status, or compatibility. Members should still use their own judgment and report suspicious behavior.
The separate Nadi preview contains sample profiles that cannot match or message. Live matching is available only between real members after mutual likes, and the live community is still starting.
